Yellow River, “the Cradle of Chinese Civilization”, has nourished the region for thousands of years. This culture expedition journeys through multiple ancient cities like Datong, Pingyao, Zhengzhou, Kaifeng, Luoyang and many historic sites, each with distinct local flavors and prominence in the history of “the Middle Kingdom."

 

 

Day 1 | USA-Enroute-Beijing  

Board our international flight bound for Beijing and look forward to a China Adventure.

Day 2 | Arrive-Beijing  AB,L,DP

Our flight lands at Beijing. We are transferred to the luxury hotel for well-deserved rest.

Day 3 | Beijing  AB,L,DP

Our city tour starts with a visit to Qianmen Street and photo stops at the National Grand Theater, the “Water Cube” Aquatics Centre, and the “Bird's Nest” National Stadium. Afternoon is free at leisure. Tonight, we taste the renowned Peking Duck Banquet dinner at a local popular restaurant.

Day 4 | Beijing -Datong  AB,L,DH

Board a morning flight to Datong. Upon arrival, we immediately start our sightseeing with a visit to the 1500-year-old, world famous Yungang Grottoes. With 53 rock caves, the Yungang Grottoes is the largest cluster of grottoes and a treasurehouse of art in China. The other attractions we visit in Datong are Huayan Monastery of the Liao and the Nine-Dragon Wall of the Ming.

Day 5 | Datong -Pingyao  AB,L,DP

Proceed to Pingyao by motor coach. On the way, we visit the Overhanging Monastery and Wooden Pagoda, China's tallest and oldest Buddhist pagoda constructed entirely of wood. The overhanging Monastery is an alpine complex built in the midway up the slope of Hengshan, one of the five holy mountains in China, hanging on the rock face of a sheer cliff. For dinner, we are served the famed Jin Family Banquet.

Day 6 | Pingyao -Taiyuan  B,L,DP

The ancient city of Pingyao is visited in the morning. Next we drive to Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province. On the way, the Qiao Family's Courtyard House is visited. The house belonged to a rich merchant family before, and now is billed as an emblem of the Shanxi culture that thrived as a result of burgeoning local commerce. Slippery shaved noodles (Daoxiaomian) is the most popular pasta in Shanxi. For dinner we have a chance to taste it.

Day 7 | Taiyuan -Zhengzhou  B,L

We finish our city tour of Taiyuan with a visit to Jinci Temple and then travel by train to Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province with a venerated history of over 3000 years. Upon our arrival in Zhengzhou, we are transferred to our luxury hotel.

Day 8 | Zhengzhou -Kaifeng  B,L,DP

Journey by motor coach to Kaifeng, one of seven ancient Chinese capitals. Serving for 168 years as capital of the Northern Song some 900 years ago, Kaifeng was the most prosperous city in China. Our city tour of Kaifeng includes visits to Dragon Pavilion, Lord Bao's Kaifeng-Fu, the amazing Iron Pagoda, and a leisure walk along the ancient street.

Day 9 | Kaifeng -Luoyang  B,L,DP

Today we journey to Luoyang by motor coach. Our first stop is the Shaolin Temple at Songshan. Shaolin Temple is best known for its Martial Arts. Gladly we will be entertained by an exciting Performance of Martial Arts. The nearby Tower Forest (Talin) will be visited as well. Continue to Luoyang, the oldest capital in China serving the capital for 13 dynasties in history. Upon arrival, our motorcoach will take us to the Old Town. A special banquet of local cuisine called “Ban Shuixi” will be served for our dinner tonight.

Day 10 | Luoyang -Zhengzhou  B,L,DP

Today our tour begins with a visit to the world famous Longmen Grottoes, one of the three main treasure houses of stone inscription art in China. Next we stop at the Guan Mausoleum, the burial of general Guan Yu from Three Kingdoms Period. Later in the afternoon we finally travel back to Zhengzhou and enjoy Henan local cuisine for dinner.

Day 11 | Zhengzhou -Beijing  B,L

Before leaving Zhengzhou for Beijing, we take an excursion to the Yellow River Zone. Yellow River is the second-longest river in China, called the “Mother River” and “cradle of Chinese civilization”. After lunch, board a flight back to Beijing. The rest of the day is free for your leisure.

Day 12 | Beijing -USA  AB

Board our homebound international flight to USA, bidding a fond farewell to China.
