ITINERARY
 

Day 01

USA - Beijing
  Board our international flight bound for Beijing and look forward to a China Culture Exploration adventure.

Day 02

Arrive at Beijing
  Our flight lands at Beijing. We are transferred to the luxury hotel for well-deserved rest.

Day 03

Beijing (AB, L, DP)
  After breakfast we start our city tour which includes stops of sightseeing to the National Grand Theater and shopping to the Qianmen Street. After lunch, an outside view of the “Water Cube” Aquatics Centre and an inside visit to the “Bird’s Nest” National Stadium will be arranged if permitted. Otherwise, we’ll be free at leisure. Tonight we taste the renowned Peking Duck Dinner Banquet.

Day 04

Beijing - Datong (AB, L, DH)
  Board a morning flight to Datong. Upon arrival, we immediately start sightseeing with a visit to the 1500-year-old, world famous Yungang Grottoes. With 53 rock caves, the Yungang Grottoes is the largest cluster of grottoes and a treasurehouse of art in China. The other major attractions we visit in Datong are Huayan Monastery of the Liao and Nine-Dragon Wall of the Ming

Day 05

Datong - Pingyao (CB, L, DP)
  Proceed to the ancient city of Pingyao by motorcoach. On the way we visiit the Overhanging Monastery and Wooden Pagoda. The Overhanging Monastery is an alpine complex built in the midway up the slope of Hengshan, one of the five holy mountains in China, hanging on the rock face of a sheer cliff. The Wooden Pagoda is China’s tallest and oldest Buddhist pagoda constructed entirely of wood. For dinner tonight, we are served the famed Jin Family Banquet.

Day 06

Pingyao - Taiyuan (AB, L, DP)
  After breakfast, a sightseeing tour shows us around the ancient city of Pingyao. Later we proceed to Taiyuan, the capital of Shanxi Province, by motor coach. Before we arrive at Taiyuan, the Qiao Family’s Courtyard House is visited. The house belonged to a rich and famous merchant family before, and now is billed as an emblem of the Shanxi culture that thrived as a result of burgeoning local commerce. Slippery shaved noodles (Daoxiaomian) are the most popular pasta in Shanxi. For dinner we will have a chance to try it.

Day 07

Taiyuan - Xian (AB, L, D)
  Before transfering to the airport to board a short domestic flight to Xian, we finish the city tour of Taiyuan with a visit to Jinci Temple. Upon our arrival at Xian, a sightseeing tour of Big Wild Goose Pagoda starts immediately. On the way to our luxury hotel, we drive by the ancient Bell Tower and the City Wall.

Day 08

Xian (AB, L, DP)
  As the cradle of ancient Chinese civilization, Xian served as the capital city for 11 dynasties until the 9th century. Our full day sightseeing tour of Xian includes visits to the famous Famen Temple, the Imperial Qian Tomb, and the Stele Forest today. The Stele Forest is the largest and oldest of its kind in China with a collection of 2300 stone tablets and epitaphs. Buried in the Qian Tomb were the remains of Tang Emperor Gaozong and Wu Zetian, the only Empress of China. For dinner, the local specialty hot pot cuisine is served.

Day 09

Xian - Luoyang (AB, L, DP)
  Bid farewell to Xian and journey to Luoyang by motorcoach. On the way, we pass the Yellow River Scenic Area, Mt. Huashan, and the Cave-Dwelling Villages. Upon our arrival at Luoyang in the afternoon, we begin our sightseeing tour with visits to the Old Town and the Folk Craft Museum. A special banquet of local cuisine called “Ban Shuixi” will be prepared for our dinner tonight.

Day 10

Luoyang (AB, L, DH)
  Luoyang is the oldest capital in China serving as the capital for 13 dynasties in history. Our tour begins with the famous Longmen Grottoes, one of the three main treasure houses of stone inscription art in China. Next, we stop at the Guan Mausoleum, the burial of general Guan Yu from Three Kingdoms Period. We continue on to the White Horse Temple, the first temple constructed after Buddhism was introduced to China.

Day 11

Luoyang - Songshan Shaolin Temple - Z hengzhou (AB, L, D)
  Today's sightseeing tour includes visits to the Zongyue Temple at Songshan, and the Shaolin Temple, best known for its Martial Arts. The nearby Talin (Tower Forest) is also visited. After an exciting martial arts performance, we proceed to Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province with a venerated history of over 3000 years.

Day 12

Zhengzhou - Kaifeng - Zhengzhou (AB, L, DP)
  Our full day excursion first shows us the Yellow River Tour Zone. Then, we journey by motorcoach to Kaifeng, one of seven ancient Chinese capitals. Serving for 168 years as capital of the Northern Song some 900 years ago, Kaifeng was the most prosperous city in China. Our city tour will include visits to Dragon Pavilion, Lord Bao’s Temple, Kaifeng-Fu, and the amazing Iron Pagoda. Enjoy the Henan Province local cuisine for dinner.

Day 13

Zhengzhou - Shanghai (AB, L, DP)
  We board a short domestic flight for Shanghai, China's largest city. Upon arrival, we check in to our luxury hotel and enjoy some free times. After a Shanghai specialty cuisine dinner, we tour the famous Bund leisurely.

Day 14

Shanghai - USA (AB)
  Board our homebound international flight to USA, bidding a fond farewell to China.
