Land at Amman international airport and meet your representative who will guide you through the immigrations. Then, enjoy a convenient transfer to your hotel. After checking in to your hotel, the rest of the day is free at leisure.
Look forward to a full day of discovery today, starting with a city tour. View the city’s main landmarks, including the Roman Amphitheater* and Citadel*, the Umayyad Palace*, the archeological museums and folklore. Then travel onward to the stunning, UNESCO World Heritage site of Roman Jerash*. This once-flourishing city was one of Rome’s Decapolis (Land of Ten Cities) and is one of the best-preserved of its kind in the world. Marvel at the columned Oval Plaza, streets, temples, and theaters before heading back to the hotel in Amman, dinner and overnight.

Today strike southward on the road of the Kings to Madaba, known as the ‘Mosaic City’ for its stunning Byzantine-era church mosaics. On arrival, enter the Church of St. George* to admire the prize mosaic—a richly detailed 6th-century floor map depicting the Holy Land and Jerusalem. Then, make tracks for Mt. Nebo, where it’s believed Moses first saw the bible’s Promised Land before drawing his last breath. Take in the panoramic views from the top, which on clear days extend to the Dead Sea, Jerusalem and the Jordan Valley, before continuing to Petra for a 2-night stay.

After breakfast, explore UNESCO-protected Petra, the rose-red city carved into a gorge by the Nabataeans 2,500 years ago. Start your guided tour on horseback* before entering Petra via the Siq, a narrow rock fissure that suddenly opens onto your first glimpse of the glorious Treasury. After admiring its timeless façade, head deeper into the gorge as it reveals royal tombs, an amphitheatre, and other ancient rock-hewn monuments.

A day of incredible natural scenery begins as you head for Wadi Rum, a UNESCO-listed wilderness of desert peaks, valleys and dunes immortalized in the movies ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ and ‘The Martian’. Take an exciting 4x4 guided drive* for 2 hours through the red-hued mountains and gorges, stopping at hidden oases and natural springs. Afterwards, head back to Amman for dinner and overnight.

This morning, transfer to the airport for your flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, start our tour by visiting the ancient relics of the Nile’s West Bank. Gaze at the two huge statues of the Colossi of Memnon*, and visit a selection of pharaoh’s tombs at the Valley of the Kings*. Later, board the 5-star cruise ship on the Nile—Egypt’s lifeblood for thousands of years. Then, enjoy lunch in the elegant dining room before joining your guide for an afternoon’s sightseeing. Stroll the halls and courts of Luxor Temple* as your guide shed lights on the pharaohs who built them. Back to our ship for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, we visit the Karnak Complex* of the Nile’s East Bank, wondering at the huge pillars and sanctuaries. Then, we return back to our ship for sailing to Edfu via Esna Lock. Enjoy lunch on board and admire the Nile scenery as you cruise upstream to Edfu—where you dock overnight.

Start our tour of Edfu by taking a horse-drawn carriage to its highlight—the temple dedicated to the falcon headed god, Horus. Dwarfed in size only by Karnak, this well-preserved Edfu Complex* unfolds in a series of courtyards and halls lined with statues, reliefs, and pillars. Having explored here, enjoy lunch on board and drink in the views from the deck as you sail to Kom Ombo. Upon arrival, visit the Kom Ombo Temple*, built between 108 to 47 BC, and unusual for its double design of two parallel temples dedicated to the god Horus and Sobek, the crocodile god, in turn. After exploring here, rejoin your ship and cruise to the ancient city of Aswan.

This morning is free at leisure. Perhaps join the optional tour flying to Abu Simbel, home to the Great Temple of Ramses II on the banks of Lake Nasser. Admire the temple’s enormous Ramses II statues and explore inside as you hear how it was rescued from the rising Nile during the late 20th century. After lunch on board, drink in the beauty of the Nile as a wooden ‘felucca*’ sailboat ferries you around the Agha Khan Mausoleum. Dinner and overnight on board at Aswan.

Disembark your ship this morning and take a tour of Aswan’s highlights: seeing the Aswan High Dam and the Temple of Philae—one of Nubia’s most important monument sites saved from a watery grave by UNESCO’s rescue project during the building of the Aswan High Dam.
